On July 2, 2017 I will be leading Kōgakkan University 皇學館大学 students and faculty on a historical tour of sites along the “Old Road of Kumano” 熊野古道. Owase Shrine is not especially well known outside of the city, and wasn’t an integral part of the Kumano Kodō, but I think it is an interesting local site, because it is an important part of the modern community. This is the last stop on our trip.
