Takihara Shrine 瀧原宮

On July 2, 2017 I will be leading Kōgakkan University 皇學館大学 students and faculty on a historical tour of sites along the “Old Road of Kumano” 熊野古道. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to see the shrine from the expressway, but the students will go there on a field-trip during their time at Kōgakkan. This is an important site within the Ise Shrine complex, and though it is quite far from the main Inner and Outer Shrines located in Ise City, it is a lovely place to visit.

1. Turn left for the road to Kumano.

2. An explanation of Takihara Shrine’s history.

3. A poster for a talk (滝原の魅力再発見) to be given in a few days by a retired member of the Kōgakkan faculty, Okada Noboru 岡田登 (coincidentally, he led the historical tours at Kōgakkan for over two decades).
