The Kumano Kodō Center was established in 2007 to commemorate the “old road of Kumano” (Kumano kodō 熊野古道), which became a World Heritage Site 世界遺産 in 2004 (some new sites were recently added to the original ones). It’s a beautiful center (made from 6,549 local Owase Hinoki (cypress)), in a beautiful place. If you’re visiting Japan, I highly recommend taking a look at this huge area of religious sites (English tours also exist).
Beginning this month, there will be a photography exhibition called the “Originating Trail” こころの道 by Mori Takeshi 森武史. If you are in the area, please stop by and have a look!
